How can I turn my tropical fish tank into a coldwater tank? | PetHot.com

10 gallons is not enough for goldfish. Fancy goldfish (bubble heads, big eyes, etc) need 20 gallons for the first fish and 10 gallons for each additional fish. Common goldfish (slim, fast swimming, still have many colour varieties) need no less than 50 gallons each.

If your house stays at around the 18-22 degrees C mark, you can get some small temperate fish, such as 4-6 White Cloud Mountain Minnows. These fish are very, very hardy and easy to keep.
Another option is a SINGLE Paradise Fish (very tolerant of low temperatures, hardy) and some snails or something.

I must stress, your tank is too small for goldfish.

To turn it into a coldwater tank, simply take the heater out. Bravo.
