From our Savannah bed and breakfast inn?s point of view, the Georgia Historical Society?s archive of vintage Savannah photographs offers sweet flashbacks to treasured, bygone days in Savannah.

These snippets, too, point to some of the best things to do and the best places to go for even a mini-vacation Savannah trip today. We selected a few dated in July and August, summer months in Savannah.

We hope you?ll enjoy this memory walk!

Located along the popular Bull Street walking corridor, Monterey Square is right around the corner from Zeigler House Inn. Somehow we missed the fact that the monument to honor the American Revolutionary hero Casimir Pulaski was in place by 1861. Honoring the ?Father of America?s Calvary?, the monument was competed in 1859.

Innkeeper Jackie Heinz has recommendations of more inspiring military spots to visit. From 2011 ? 2015 America commemorates the Civil War Sesquicentennial -- the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War.

Summer House at Forsyth Park
Within 2 blocks of our bed and breakfast is Forsyth Park?s lush canopy of trees. Fifty-two (52) species of trees are in the city?s official arboretum. Easily, these serve at the open door ?summer house? in modern-day Savannah. ??The Forsyth Arboretum is unusual in several ways,? said David White, who heads the city?s Park and Tree Department. ?Usually arboreta are measured in the tens to hundreds of acres,? he said. ?We have 12, and it?s in an accessible downtown location. It?s part of a multi-use public park. You don?t have to pay admission to appreciate it. Anyone can come any time.?? ? Source: Savannah Morning News
