Lung cancer documentary by Beaverton teens to screen at ...

A group of high school students who produced a video about lung cancer, with guidance from Providence Portland Medical Center staff, will screen their film Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Hollywood Theatre in Northeast Portland.

The ?REBELS WITH A CAUSE? screening will take place at 4 p.m. The Hollywood Theatre is located at 4122 NE Sandy Blvd.

The film follows the Rebels, a small group of high school students, during their lung cancer awareness campaign. The students created a program using the ?power of cool? to educate middle school students on the health risks of tobacco use and to influence younger students to ?be smart and don?t start.? If you missed it, check out my earlier story on these inspiring students.

The Rebels, Youth Lung Cancer Awareness, is a joint project between Beaverton Health Careers Program and The Hollywood Theatre, sponsored by Providence Health & Services Office of Diversity, Providence Cancer Center, Providence School Outreach Program.

Following the documentary, the students will participate in a panel discussion. RSVP to Julanne Sandoz 503-893-7471 or Julanne.Sandoz@providence.org.
