What year is the tax rebate based on? | Finance Assistant

Many people have indicated that the tax rebate is based on 2007 income because the filing deadline is April 15. However, many people file an extension for a variety of reasons which gives them until mid October (although any expected tax due amount must be paid by April 15). If you file an extension, you haven?t filed your 2007 tax return, thus how can it be determined if you qualify? Will they go back to 2006 income in these cases?
